Welcome to the Lillagaard! This historic inn, member of Preferred Inns of New Jersey Bed & Breakfast Association, owned by Dick & Jane Wehr, features 22 enchanting guest rooms, each named for its unique theme. Hand-painted murals by local artist Barbara Climer add a spectacular finishing touch to each room, 18 of which have private baths and  many have an ocean view. Cheery public rooms include the "English Kitchen" dining room, where a full buffet breakfast is served daily consisting of  coffee, tea, orange juice, and a hot dish alternating with bacon & eggs or pancakes & sausage along with  a corn bake or an egg casserole. Included are breads, bagels, flavored cream cheese, cottage cheese, yogurt , fresh fruit , regular milk, skim milk and  always something SWEET and some surprises.   A formal dining room  is available for intimate gatherings. There is also a cozy library, a TV/game room and 2 irresistible old-fashioned front porches where you can catch a refreshing ocean breeze and  enjoy the view.

Less than a block away, the boardwalk and beach await. After a day's sunbathing, you can explore everything that the historic community of Ocean Grove has to offer, from concerts and religious services at the Auditorium, to relaxed shopping on the quaint Main Avenue and dining at a variety of restaurants . There are even tours of the community by old-fashioned trolley!


We are easily accessible from major highways as well as by train.

Ocean Grove is about 90 minutes from both the New York and Philadelphia areas.

From North Jersey: take the Garden State Parkway south to exit 100B and follow Route 33 East to Ocean Grove.

From South Jersey:   take Garden State Parkway North to exit 100 and follow route 33 East to Ocean Grove, or take the NJ Turnpike north to exit 7A and follow Route 195 east to Route 35 in Belmar. Take RT. 35 around Shark River and across the inlet. Travel North, parallel to the RR tracks for 2 miles to Corlies Avenue. Turn right across the tracks and into Ocean Grove.

From the West: take Route 18 south to Route 33 east exit in Neptune. Follow Route 33 east to the end (Ocean Grove).

Take RT. 195 east from the Trenton area to RT. 35 in Belmar. Follow directions from South Jersey.

Trains: on the NJ Transit North Jersey Coast Line stop at the Asbury Park-Ocean Grove Station.  Visit www.njtransit.com for further information.

Buses: from NY and North Jersey commute directly to Ocean Grove.  Visit www.academybus.com for more information.

Directions to The Lillagaard

    Onto 33 East, for 4.7 miles from Garden State Parkway, to light on Main Ave./and 71.

    Keep straight (WW II statue will be on your left).

    Broadway, go 10 street signs to Beach Ave., make a left and go to the next street which is Abbott Ave. and make a right and there we are on the left.


Room rates vary from $120 to $175 per night; weekly and group rates are available.

Cancellation Policy. Cancellation must be made 2 weeks prior to reservation date to receive your 50% deposit refund.  If the cancellation is less than 2 weeks prior to the reservation date, the 50% deposit will be returned  if the room is re-rented.  A $25.00 accounting fee will be added to any cancellation.

11:00 - 4:00pm    Tour the Music and Art Festival in Auditorium Square Park.

                             Relax, shop, stoll and enjoy the feeling of Spring Fever in our town on Main Street!

3:00 - 4:30pm      Gather at BIA - Watch Chef Kris create a soup, salad, hors d’oeuvre and then enjoy them.

                             You may bring your own wine for the tasting.

4:30-8pm             Leisure time.

8:00-10:30pm      Watch a movie or play a board game while enjoying hot popcorn,

                             cookies and milk in your Pj’s at The Lillagaard.

12:00 Noon         All meet at The Auditorium Pavilion for Historical Society Walking Tour.         

1:00 - 4:00          Horse and Carriage Rides narrated by members of the Historical Society

The Tea Room serves homemade scones, finger sandwiches, dessert and fresh fruit. You may have afternoon tea served on your choice of china: Rosenthal, Wedgwood, Limoges , Old Country Roses,or on an elegant variety of china patterns, all family heirlooms. If  you have a preference, please convey that to us when making your reservation.  $20.00 + tax  for adults and $14.50 + tax for the Teddy bear Tea for children. RESERVATIONS REQUIRED.  Cash or check.
